Ryan was nominated at the Republican National Convention this week, and here is his acceptance speech. We will watch from 17.20-19.50 and hear him criticize Obama's handling of the government's economy.

Here is also a good article from CNN. And here is their official website.

The task at hand:

Two goals of English 6 are that you should learn more about "living conditions, politics, history, and traditions in the English-speaking world" and you should be able to understand different varieties of English. Every Tuesday I would like to spend some time on a news item that YOU have picked out, in groups. The news item should come from the English-speaking world, and I give you lots of links to choose from below.
1. Browse the news sites to decide on a piece of news.
2. Find a news clip with sound - a news report in the story, somebody being interviewed, or a speech, for instance.
3. Add the clip here on our blog together with a SHORT summary of what the news item is about and give a reason to why you picked this particular piece of news.
4. Add a list of words that are important to understand when listening. (10-15)
5. We will look at what you have added each week - five minutes listening followed by discussions.
I'm sure you can come up with many more news sites, but this was a start!
